Using primarily sculpture arranged in subtly absurd configurations, my work draws from a visual language which idealizes the spirit of my Midwestern heritage—a desire to create a space to call one’s own, a reverence for simple utility and a taste for accessible materials. In a sense, I am in search of a secular spirituality—a search for the immeasurable or the unknowable, in a culture obsessed with order. Confronted by the profound genealogy of materials and techniques utilized by non-American cultures, I am aware of my history.
